MPISSR Library

 

 

Establishment

          MPISSR library has come into existence in 1993-94. It received collections books from three eminent scholars – Late Professor Bhagwat Sharan Upadhyay, Former High Commissioner of India in Mauritius; Late Professor A. Awasthi, Former Vice Chancellor, Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur and Professor R.S. Gautam, Former Professor and Head, School Studies in Political Science, Vikram University, Ujjain and founder of MPISSR.

Subject Coverage of the Library

          Taking into consideration the research work undertaken at MPISSR, the library spelt out certain fields of social sciences for enriching its collection. The fields are as under –

1. Philosophy, 2. Psychology, 3. Religion, 4. Sociology and Anthropology, 5. Political Science, 6. Public Administration, 7. Economics; (Agriculture Economics; Labour Economics; Development Economics), 8. Education, 9. Environment Studies, 10. Management, 11. Social transformation, 12. Rural Development, 13. Panchayat Raj and Developmental Issues.

Information Resources of the Library

          The MPISSR library has developed its collection in the form of documents like books, journals, periodicals, annual reports, newsletters, working papers and monographs. The library has over 8000 books.

          The library receives 120 journals by the way of subscription and/or exchange. The library exchanges the Institute's research output and publications (including its journals i.e. Madhya Pradesh Journal of Social Sciences and Madhya Pradesh Samajik Vigyan Anusandhan Journal) with other social science Institutions of India. A separate section for theses and project reports is being developed.

Automation of Library

          The library has procurred LIBSYS Software (LSEase 4.0 version). Automation of library is in progress.

          The MPISSR library provides the following services to its users.

3.          Current Content list for Journals/Periodicals.

4.          Reprographic Services.

5.          Circulation Service.
